Technological Services for Rescue Missions and Herding
At A Ran-Dee Company, we customize copters with cameras as well as GPS tracking and terrain detection with acoustic sonars. This is to optimize search and rescue operations by creating a two-man crew with only one person.

Unmanned Autonomous Vehicle for Use in Livestock Herding Applications
Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles (UAVs) for the purpose of herding and managing livestock. Implementing small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (sUAV), such as a small multirotor aircraft or single engine aircraft, equipped with data collecting sensors can perform the same tasks in addition to other new productive tasks, such as geotagging the cattle on a map and, with the use of thermal imaging, identifying health conditions of the animals. UAVs can also be used to identify and protect livestock from predators. Studies have even shown robot herders create less stress on the animals versus humans and dogs.
The most common tool the herders use is herding dogs, which have been bred to respond to the whistle or other commands of the herder. However, these skills come at the cost of upwards $5,000 and can take over a year involving training and boarding with the rancher and the livestock.
Implementing sUAVs, such as Kestrelfindme’s Cow Copter—a small multirotor aircraft—can be operated to perform aerial maneuvers that command the herding of livestock. An sUAV needs just one operator to remotely swoop in and drive livestock to another location. The sUAV can sweep a large farm in minutes and locate sick, injured, or lost animals in enough time to prevent their death. What would otherwise take multiple hours of manpower, extra time, and effort can be achieved in minutes without needing to leave the protection of shelter.
Replacing a herding dog or manned activities normally performed by hired farm hands can be done through commercial off-the-shelf products such as the A Ran-Dee Company/Kestrelfindme’s Cow Copter. There is a need to make herding livestock and its operations more efficient, and the use of UAV in livestock management will greatly improve operations and allow more productive endeavors to the herders.
